Rev. Scott Planting is a Presbyterian pastor who spent his entire ministry in Maine. From 1975-2010 he was the pastor of a three-church parish located in western Maine, affiliated with a cooperative parish called Mission of the Eastward (MATE). He served as executive director of MATE for 23 years. From 2010-2020, he was president of the Maine Seacoast Mission, which serves coastal Downeast Maine and its offshore islands by offering healthcare, education, food, shelter, and spiritual support. Scott received his Bachelors of Arts from Amherst College and his Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has taught at Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, ME and Acadia Senior College in Southwest Harbor, ME. He is the co-author of Mission: The Small Church Reaches Out.
