Old and New Testament Classes
With Pastor Larry Hayward
In either class, you will read the entire Testament, learning the basic content of the book and exploring the text in detail. You will be responsible for reading about 2 hours a week (4 chapters/Old Testament, 2 chapters/New Testament). Together with the class, you’ll reflect on how those texts and the Bible as a whole impact our faith and life. Reflect on how individual texts and the Bible as a whole impacts our faith and life and what it means to view the Bible historically, as literature, and as sacred scripture. Each class will have an overall presentation of themes by Larry, with both whole group discussion and reflections in small groups. Come with an openness to differing interpretations!
Both classes will be online through Zoom for the entire year. Recordings will be made available to participants, so those with occasional conflicts are still encouraged to register. There is no cost, but participants provide their own Bible. Larry recommends The New Interpreter’s Study Bible (New Revised Standard Version), because of its introductions to each book. The classes are open to members, visitors, and friends!
