Family Retreat

May 13-14, 2023 at the Claggett Center

Join Westminster families as we share our stories, grow in our faith, have meals together, enjoy a campfire and s’mores, worship together, and have a lot of fun. This intergenerational retreat is open to all families with children or youth, from the nursery-12th grade!

Our retreat speaker is the Rev. Amelia Richardson Dress, author of The Hopeful Family: Raising Resilient Children in Uncertain Times. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, she currently serves as the Minister for Community Faith Formation at First Congregational, United Church of Christ Longmont, Colorado. She writes about education, parenting and contemplative spirituality.

Location: The Claggett Center in Adamstown, MD, run by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, is situated on 268 acres with a working farm and fantastic views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the Monocacy River Valley. Just south of Frederick, it is about an hour and a half drive from Westminster. Check-in/Check-out time is roughly 10am-noon.

Cost: $275/room (scholarship assistance available.) Registration will generally be one family/room. There are several types of rooms at the Claggett Center; room assignments will be made based on family size. Air mattresses will be needed for some children/youth. Cost includes lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Sunday extra - Family ziplining!: Ziplining for on Sunday afternoon (after checkout) is available for anyone who is interested; cost is $12/person.
