May 11-12, 2019
Families with children age 0–5th grade are invited to experience this wonderful retreat opportunity! Join Westminster families as we share our stories, grow in our faith, have meals together, enjoy a campfire and s’mores, worship together, and have a lot of fun.
We will provide occasional childcare for the littlest ones, so parents can enjoy all that our retreat leader has to offer. Director of Children’s Ministries Patty Chamberlain will be leading worship and activities for the children.
Honor the Sabbath?
The fourth commandment is Honor the Sabbath. What does that mean for us in 2019? We spend so much time working; children rush from activity to activity; and we don’t get enough sleep. What can we do, as parents and a family, to intentionally set aside time to observe the Sabbath and rest? Our retreat leader, The Rev. Cameron Soulis, will explore with us how we might find ways to observe the Sabbath in the midst of our busy lives. How do we find more balance in our lives; when should Sabbath be for a family or individual; what might we need to let go of in order to find rest and renewal; these are all questions that Cameron will delve into during our retreat.
Cameron is the lower school chaplain at National Cathedral School where she teaches religious studies classes, leads chapel, provides pastoral care for students and families, and coordinates community service activities. Before becoming an Episcopal priest, she taught high school chemistry at several schools. She holds degrees from Hood College and Virginia Theological Seminary. In her free time, Cameron enjoys reading, traveling, and singing.
The Claggett Center
The Claggett Center, run by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, is situated on 268 acres with a working farm and fantastic views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the Monocacy River Valley. Just south of Frederick, it is about an hour and a half drive from Westminster.
Rooms at the center have one or two queen beds. Children are also welcome to bunk on the floor. Each room has its own bathroom. We have limited space available, so please register early!
