May 11-12, 2019
Families with children age 0–5th grade are invited to experience this wonderful retreat opportunity! Join Westminster families as we share our stories, grow in our faith, have meals together, enjoy a campfire and s’mores, worship together, and have a lot of fun.
We will provide occasional childcare for the littlest ones, so parents can enjoy all that our retreat leader has to offer. Director of Children’s Ministries Patty Chamberlain will be leading worship and activities for the children.
Does your child ever ask you a question that really puts you on the spot? Ever find any excuse to end a conversation because there’s no easy answer? It’s normal to have a hard time talking to kids about sensitive, complicated and weighty topics. Jen Cort, educator, clinical social worker and consultant on inclusion and diversity will lead us in exploring techniques and tips for having tough conversations with your children. Her sessions will be centered around how parents can have meaningful conversations with children even when the parent is challenged by the topic. As we learn and worship together, we hope you will leave the retreat feeling more confident to talk to your child about hard topics such as race, sex, faith and money.
Jen Cort’s career blends her experience as a clinical social worker and educator. Her educational administrative experiences are as an assistant head of lower school, head of a middle school and senior administrator. Jen’s therapy background includes serving as a counselor in lower, middle and upper schools as well as private practice. Jen is founder of Jen Cort Educational Consulting.
